Teen Programs at BGCB

At the Boys & Girls Club of Brockton we offer a number of programs geared at serving our Teen members. In fact, the entire top floor of our Clubhouse is dedicated to serving our youth ages 13-18 in our Teen Center. The Teen Center features a large social recreation space where members can play a game of pool, compete in a videogame tournament, or watch movies with their friends. But it's so much more than just a place to hang out; it's a valuable resource where our members also find opportunities to join community service and youth leadership groups, improve their academic performance with the help of tutors in our Computer Lab, develop lasting relationships with staff and volunteer mentors who help them to navigate the trials of urban adolesence, and learn about the process of applying to colleges. The Teen Center also houses our Music Studio.

Many of our programs in Education & Career Development are designed specifically to service teen members. Our Youth Jobs program (proudly supported by the Bank of America Charitable Foundation) teaches teens the necessary skills for entering the workforce. The curriculum addresses professional etiquette, resume writing, and basic administrative skills. Members are placed in jobs in the community or at the Club to gain real-life job experience. Money Matters uses interactive activities to educate teens on financial literacy, including managing a checking account, budgeting, investing, and paying for college. Diplomas 2 Degrees is our college readiness program designed to assist Club members as they work toward high school graduation and prepare for post-secondary education and career success.
Several of our Character & Leadership Development programs also take place in the Teen Center. Our Torch Club and Keystone Club members meet on a regular basis to plan community service projects, discuss new programs they would like to see come to the Club, and discuss their roles as leaders in the Club and local community. Many of our Health & Life Skills programs like SMART Girls and Passport to Manhood run in the Teen Center too.
